Beach season: when booking pays off

Beach season: when booking pays off

The question we hear most often: when should you book to pay less. There is no single answer, but there are patterns.

Two to four months ahead

The best balance of price and choice. Hotels are not yet taken, and most operators discount early bookings. This is where families with children book, because they need a particular hotel on particular dates.

Two to seven days ahead

Last-minute deals. The price can be lower, but the choice is limited to whatever is left: one hotel, one set of dates, no alternatives. It suits travellers who can leave almost any time.

The rule of thumb is simple. Fixed dates mean booking early. Flexible dates mean you can wait.
